About Us

Neighborhood group is a tontine governed by four principles namely: free entry and exit, one common purpose, equal contributions and equal rights in decision making.

The members of this tontine are neighbors that voluntarily get together regularly to collaborate, support one another, share ideas and work to make their neighborhood a better place to live.

This tontine started on 06/11/2023 by six members from three neighboring families living in Bugarura Village, Rwanteru Cell, Kigina Sector, Kirehe District. It is a registered tontine in Kigina Sector, Kirehe District.

Three main activities:

  • Monthly saving on bank account.
  • Buy different assets like houses, land, plots, ...
  • Any member is able to bollow from the group at a low interest rate.

We work like informal credit and saving group whose members are committed to contribute a predetermined sum at a given frequency to a common fund in order to save it and get loan from the saved money.

Our Principles

Sources of finances

The main source of finances of neighborhood group is its members’ contributions, net income from our operations, or any other legally recognised source.

Use of finances

The finances of our tontine are used to lend loans to members. However, we may carry out other investments upon approval by the general assembly.

Rights of a member

A member of our tontine has general rights, including freedom to participate in the activities of a tontine; right to information on the functioning of a tontine and the management of its funds. Requirements for membership of our tontine are determined by rules of procedure.

Obligations of a member

A member of our tontine has general obligations such as complying with its rules of procedure and decisions taken; paying contributions as agreed upon; paying back the loan that we granted to him/her and its accrued interests; and attending the organised meetings.
